My First Travel Conference : Women In Travel Summit 2018

My First Travel Conference : Women In Travel Summit 2018

I never thought I would attend a travel conference until Rachel Hill of Rachel Travels was speaking at one. This conference, in particular, was for women who love traveling hence the name Women In Travel Summit. This year the conference was located in Quebec City, Quebec. Yes, my first travel conference was in Canada. But, before I purchased a ticket, I had done my research on the organizers of Wanderful.

I had learned that this was the 5th Annual Women In Travel Summit, so it had a buzz going in a few travel communities. But, what captured my attention was the community the organizers already had. The community of Wanderful is very diverse in color and travel experience. The Wanderful community had no problem with accepting me and the communication was and are always open.

I arrived in Quebec City two days before the conference began and attended the city tours that came with my ticket purchase. The Quebec City tours were filled with history, culture, food, wine, and great photo opportunities. One thing for sure is if you don't try the poutine in Quebec City, you haven't had a good authentic experience. From the Orleans Island (Iles d'Orleans) to Rue du Petit-Champlain it was so beautiful. To kick off the Women In Travel Summit right, we had an opening night ceremony and party. Great speeches, music, and food filled the Quebec City Armory which I truly enjoyed myself.

The Women In Travel Summit lasted two days with several speakers, influencers, bloggers, journalists, and etcetera speaking on their expertise. Several different topics were being talked about from diversity to monetization. The downside about all the discussions brought to the conference was you had to choose which to attend during that hour. From the one on one meetings to networking with sponsors and attendees, there wasn't enough time to do everything you wanted or needed to do. It was pretty overwhelming.

All in all, I enjoyed my visit to Quebec City to attend the Women In Travel Summit. I learned a lot, met great people, and felt the love while there. To finally be around a diverse group of women that get excited about travel as much as I do, it felt phenomenal. Will I do more travel conferences? Of course, I want to be a speaker at a travel conference one day. Will I attend the Women In Travel Summit in 2019? There is a possibility I will participate; it will be in Portland, Maine next year.
