Asthma? Gabriel has asthma?
I had to ask his pediatrician over and over again to double check because in my mind my baby is healthy. Watching him as a toddler with an IV in his arm knowing it was something I was trying to avoid, but his father has it. Gabriel having asthma was something else I had to digest. Felt like another huge pill I had to swallow, right along with the heart murmur issue. I thought it was my fault and I cried for a few days. My mama told me to not treat it as a terminal disease, he will either grow out of it or manage it.
In two days Gabriel was out of the hospital, but a new nebulizer and albuterol were in tow. Got home, hooked up the nebulizer for his treatments, and started making changes around the house. Started dusting more, had sure my mama or anyone else smokes around Gabriel, and a pump was always in my purse. I started doing more research on how to manage his asthma and ways to reverse it.
Well, his asthma isn't a problem as much as it was when he was a toddler. I still keep the pump on hand, but I keep local honey at home, had him play a season of football, and he's still active. He hasn't had an asthma attack and he's still alive.
